“在近代，即使当一个人私下照镜子的时候，社会规范依然在发挥作用。照镜子一方面是为了服从社会规范，同时也是为了满足人们心中的一个隐秘渴望：与真实的自我相遇。只有在“二者构成的张力”下，才会产生Sabine Melchior-Bonnet所谓的“自我体验”（Selbsterfahrung）.甚至镜子前的自我也并不是孤立存在的，而是时刻感受到来自社会的注视和监控。“注视自我的权利屈从于伦理规范”，观看者屈从于一种已被他/她内化了的审查制度。”

The roles of the ego were bound to behavioral norms of a society; in the modern period these persist in front of the mirror. This mirror served as a medium of social adaptation and also as a vehicle for the secret wish that one might here encounter the self. To quote sabine melchior-bonnet, this “ tension between both” produces the experience of the self. Even in front of the mirror the self is not alone, but feels itself observed by society's gaze. “The right to gaze upon oneself was subject to moral controls.” Here observers were subject to censorship, which they had already internalized.

当我们观察人类行为与社会事件，我们会发现人类的身体图像是一扇重要的信息窗口。我们穿上某种类型的衣服，修剪某种发型，调整、改造自身的视觉外表，并不仅只是一时的心血来潮，作为人类文化系统的一部分，社会规范、文化氛围、身份认同极大地影响着我们对自己外表的看法与决定。

When we observe human behavior and social events, we will find that the image of human body is an important information window, through which we can get a lot of important information. We don't just put on a certain type of clothes, trim a certain hairstyle, adjust and transform our visual appearance. As part of the human cultural system, social norms, cultural atmosphere and identity greatly influence our views and decisions about our appearance.

随图像识别技术的发展，面部识别、面部ID也随着科技产品进入了我们的生活，随之而来的，信息档案的安全问题，用户隐私保障问题，作为普通人对技术的适应及忧虑，值得我们花时间讨论。

应用了换脸技术的手机APP在国内掀起了一波社交媒体上的“换脸热”，社交平台上，对政治人物换脸后制造的假视频、假新闻也引发了人们的讨论。

Face Swap app has sparked a trend of face-changing on social media in China, and also there is a  discussions on social media platforms about fake videos and fake news with politician’s face swapped by Deepfake.

作者挑选了文化历史中的五个文化现象，通过它们塑造了五个面具，并通过演员的舞蹈表演完成作品概念的表达。讨论身体图像与社会文化规范的相互影响，相关的意象指涉。讨论未来技术下，现存与身体图像相关的社会问题及文化现象发展的可能性。

This art performance is at once visually inviting and thoughtfully layered. 

It is a piece that invites it's audience to view different stages of life and society through dance. Each mask has it's own set characteristics, that are woven with dance to present a view of many parts of a whole. The piece shows us a range of societal complexities in a fluid format,  enhancing the viewer's over all experience. 

The performance is a competent piece that uses a visual language so that the viewer may have an opportunity to interpret the layers, as they see fit, including those at the edge of communities and those well within their eco-systems.
