On September 27th, the D-AND International Student Chinese Culture Festival was successfully held at the College of Design and Innovation. Fifteen international students from nine countries, including France and Germany, participated in this cultural experience event.
The festival featured two main activities. The first was lacquer fan making (漆扇制作), where students experienced the beauty of traditional Chinese craftsmanship by creating their own fans. Each fan symbolized a timeless connection to Chinese culture, allowing participants to feel the warmth of tradition in their hands. The second activity was a Baduanjin exercise (八段锦) , an ancient Chinese health practice known for its calming and strengthening benefits. International students closely followed the instructor’s movements, immersing themselves in the gentle flow of Chinese culture. Many students expressed that they were deeply impressed by the intricate craftsmanship of the lacquered fans and found the Baduanjin exercise both relaxing and enjoyable.
The international delegation from Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center met this event during their visit in D&I. French student Lili Delcourt introduced herself and her experience in Tongji to more than 30 visiting representatives from 15 countries.
Initiated in 2024 by the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, the “D-AND” International Student Chinese Culture Festival aims to deepen international students' understanding of traditional Chinese culture, fostering knowledge, friendship, and love for China.
