On December 9, 2016, the Counsel General of Finland Consulate Mr. Jan Wahlberg presented an award to Professor Jarmo SUOMINEN in Tongji University College of Design and Innovation. Professor SUOMINEN is a high-end foreign expert working in D&I and he is also the Deputy Director of Tongji University Sino-Finnish Center. Professor SUOMINEN has won three awards, which are Quality Innovation Award of 2016，Finland, 2016 Mayors Innovation award of Espoo, and Espoo Award and Medal for City of Espoo. Quality Innovation Award is an award in innovation of the national level and the winners provide the most creative solutions to Finland education and research.

Professor SUOMINEN won this award for his concept of “School as a Service”. This concept is creative in that it linked government, school, and communities with the logic of service design, and thus to promote the cooperation in different areas such as education, science, and society.
