On April 22nd, the "Data Visualization Exhibition of Chinese Culture," which was hosted by the College of Design and Innovation of Tongji University, the Confucius Institute at J. F. Oberlin University in Japan, and the International School of Tongji University, and curated by Tongji's Intelligent Big Data Visualization Lab (iDVx Lab), opened at J. F. Oberlin University in Tokyo, Japan. The exhibition was inaugurated by Lou Yongqi, Vice President of Tongji University, and Yang Guangjun, Deputy President of J. F. Oberlin University. Subsequently, Lou Yongqi delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
Lou Yongqi introduced some background information of the exhibited works to Japanese teachers and students, as well as the "Art and Design" discipline of Tongji University and the iDVx Lab. In the 2024 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject: Art & Design, Tongji University was placed 11th, ranked first in Asia for the seventh consecutive year. The iDVx Lab is a joint research lab in both College of Design and Innovation and the School of Software Engineering at Tongji University, Shanghai, China. The lab was founded in 2016 and focuses on the data science related research areas, with the goal of developing the state-of-the-art techniques in the fields of intelligent data analysis, visualization, design, and human-computer interaction. This exhibition showcases exemplary works from the "Introduction to Information Visualization" course offered by iDVx Lab.
From October 12th to 20th, the exhibition was displayed at the Osaka Ibaraki campus of Ritsumeikan University in Japan. As one of the significant projects showcasing Chinese culture during the "Asia Week" event at Ritsumeikan University, the exhibition attracted a considerable number of students, local residents, and tourists.
