On May 21st, the donation and signing ceremony of Tongji-Worldunion fund was held in Tongji University College of Design and Innovation (D&I). CHEN Jinsong, chairman of Worldunion (a famous enlisted real estate company), also alumnus of Tongji University, donated ¥20 million (about $3 million) to the university.

Particularly, ¥10 million (about $1.5 million) of the fund would contribute to the development of Shanghai International College of Design and Innovation (Shanghai D&I). The fund would support the establishment of joint international PhD programs of Shanghai D&I with top international universities, facilitate the introduction of talented academic staff and benefit the establishment of an international administrative team.

CHEN Jinsong said during the donation ceremony, "Anything without design is superficial, even immoral. Design, for our own dignity!"

Prof. YANG Xianjin, party secretary of Tongji University, and representatives from other departments and colleges of Tongji University also attended the ceremony.
