JIANG Weiwei

Post-doctoral Researcher

Brief Introduction

Her research focuses on the history and theory of Chinese comedy cinema and its interaction with ideological expression and extends to comparative studies of Chinese and Japanese comedy films. She systematically investigates the content production, and formal evolution of comedy films in both countries.

Her academic work covers several key thematic studies: the politicization of Kunlun Film Company in the 1940s, the Lü Ban Trilogy in the 1950s, the construction of female images in the “Seventeen-Year Cinema,” and the regional characteristics of Hong Kong comedy in the 1990s. From a cross-cultural perspective, she examines the interactive relationship between Chinese comedy films and mainstream ideology, as well as the historical development and expressive features of Japanese comedy cinema.

Her related research has been published as first author in authoritative Japanese academic journals such as The Journal of the Japan Society of Image Arts and Sciences, and presented at the annual conference of the Japan Society of Image Arts and Sciences.

She has also participated in television scriptwriting. As a screenwriter of the TV series Chan Nü (The Cicada Girl), which has been broadcast, she strives to deepen her overall understanding of film and television art through the integration of historical and theoretical research with creative practice.
