Associate Professor (Probationary)

Brief Introduction

Yang SHI is an associate professor (probationary) and Ph.D. advisor at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University. She serves as a committee member of the Visualization and Visual Analytics Technical Committee of the China Society of Image and Graphics (CSIG), and as an executive committee member of the Human-Computer Interaction Technical Committee of the China Computer Federation (CCF).

Her research focuses on human-computer interaction, investigating how data and intelligent systems influence human understanding, decision-making, and communication through visualization and interaction, and developing corresponding design spaces and computational methods for modeling and implementation.

Her work has been published in top-tier venues in visualization, HCI, and AI, including IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG), ACM CHI, ACM CSCW, and AAAI. She has received multiple awards and nominations, including two Best Paper Honorable Mentions at IEEE VIS 2022, a Best Paper Honorable Mention at IEEE PacificVis 2018, and a Best Paper Award at ChinaVis 2020.

She was awarded the Second Prize of the Natural Science Award by CSIG (2022, ranked 2nd), selected for the Forbes China 30 Under 30 (Science, 2019), and received the ACM SIGCHI China Rising Star Award (2023). She has led multiple research projects, including two grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). She has also served as Meetup Chair for IEEE VIS 2022–2023 and Poster Chair for IEEE PacificVis 2020.
