LIU Long

Dr. Long Liu, Associate Professor


Dr. Long Liu is an Associate Professor at the School of Design and Innovation (D&I), Tongji University. He joined the D&I in 2010 and is now teaching some courses such as ergonomics, design studio for bachelor students, as well as supervising master students in Industrial Design in the D&I.

Dr. Liu is an enthusiastic researcher on User-Centered Design (UCD) and has led projects on usability engineering, user experience study, user interface design, safety engineering, etc. He has 40+ scientific publications in these areas and is a senior member of the Chinese Ergonomics Association. His research interests include (but not restricted in) the followings:

-          Effective and efficient UCD approaches

-          User experience study

-          Iteraction design research

-          Kansei engineering

-          Emotional design research

-          Design for extreme users

-          Design for safety, especially for medical devices

-          Innovation management, especially for medical devices

Dr. Liu obtained his Bachelor and Master degree in Industrial Design from Chongqing University inChina, and his PhD in Human-Machine System Design from Technical University of Kaiserslautern inGermany. He once worked as lecture in the Department of Industrial Design in Chongqing University, and as research assistant and researcher in some German universities. Dr. Liu has 8-year study and work experience inGermany. He speaks fluent English and German and is experienced in international collaborations.
