Tongji University Creative Design Workshop 

College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University is an important part of Shanghai International Design Site I and is located in the center of Site I. Shanghai International Design Site I is the only creative industrial park in China with an internationally renowned design college located in it, and it also represents the higher-level innovation cooperation between Shanghai and colleges in Yangpu District, Shanghai. With an area of 3,000 square meters, the newly-completed creative workshop is part of the phase one new building project of the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, with advanced facilities, including metalworking workshop, carpentry workshop, plastic workshop, jewelry shop, digital lab and station classroom. The completion of the creative workshop will greatly support students’ designing practice, and promote discipline development, personnel training and cooperation with foreign countries. College of Design and Innovation will make joint efforts with Tongji University Architecture Design Research Institute, Design Classroom, Design Bookstore, and Design Library in Shanghai International Design Site I to create China’s and even the world’s “design aircraft carrier”.

Library of the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University

The library of the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University was completed and officially put into use in November, 2011. Currently the library keeps more than two thousands books, most of them are precious foreign original design books. The books cover a variety of fields such as industrial design, environmental design, architectural design, graphic design, digital media and fashion design. Meanwhile, the library has many Chinese and foreign design journals, thus it is able to provide students and teachers with easy access to first-hand information.
The decoration and layout of the library are warm and fashionable, aiming to create a relaxing and tranquil environment. Meanwhile, the library strives to become the most colorful and professional design library in Shanghai.
