PhD in Management, Production and Design

Post-doctoral Researcher

Brief Introduction

Dr. Wen Lu received her Ph.D. in Management, Production and Design Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. Since 2018, she has been engaged in interdisciplinary research based on the Systemic Design methodology at Politecnico di Torino. Her research spans three main areas: sustainable healthcare systems, ecosystem conservation, and innovation and transformation in enterprises. In the field of sustainable healthcare, her work focuses on community-based eldercare systems in China and Italy, sustainable healthcare education and training, and medical waste management within healthcare institutions. In the area of ecosystem protection, her research addresses topics such as tidal waste management systems in the Yangtze River Estuary in Shanghai, waste and wastewater treatment systems in the Yangtze River Source region in Qinghai, and biodiversity and wildlife habitat conservation.

In corporate sustainable innovation, Dr. Lu uses Systemic Design as a framework for master’s-level training and collaborates with Exclusive Brands Torino(a network under the Turin Industrial Union). Her collaborations cover 36 enterprises, including pharmaceuticals, elevators, coffee, confectionery, chocolate, printing, architecture, eyewear, vinegar, wine, engineering machinery, ice cream, apparel, flour, fabrics, aluminum alloys, precision mechanics, medical devices, textiles, wood products, water management, agriculture, airports, waste management, plastics, rubber components, cosmetics, and food packaging. Through these cross-sectoral collaborations, Dr. Lu aims to foster regenerative relationships among enterprises, communities, and ecosystems, creating systemic value, reducing environmental impact, and promoting the sustainable transformation of industries.
