PhD in Management, Production and Design
Post-doctoral Researcher
Brief Introduction
Dr Wen Lu graduated from Politecnico di Torino with a PhD in Management, Production and Design. Since 2018, she has been engaged in interdisciplinary research at Politecnico di Torino based on Systemic Design methodologies, with research interests spanning sustainable healthcare systems, ecological and environmental protection, and innovation-driven enterprise transformation. In the field of sustainable healthcare, her research focuses on community-based older adult care systems, sustainable healthcare education and training, and healthcare waste systems. In the field of ecological and environmental protection, her work covers ecological conservation across the entire Yangtze River basin, from the source region to the estuary, including wildlife biodiversity and habitats, water and waste governance and management, as well as interdisciplinary ecological education for young people grounded in systems thinking.
In the area of sustainable enterprise development and circular design, she applies Systemic Design as a framework in collaboration with Exclusive Brands Torino, a network associated with the Industrial Union of Turin. Her collaborative work has involved 36 enterprises across sectors including pharmaceuticals, lifts, coffee, confectionery, chocolate, printing, architecture, eyewear, vinegar, wine, construction machinery, gelato, fashion, flour, textiles, aluminium alloys, precision engineering, medical equipment, wood products, water management, agricultural products, airports, waste management, plastics and rubber, cosmetics, and food packaging. Through cross-sector collaboration, her work seeks to foster regenerative relationships between enterprises, communities, and the environment, create systemic value, reduce environmental impacts, and support the transition towards more sustainable industrial systems.
