On June 16, the design work "Inter-Woods" was awarded the First Prize by the 2019 World University Bridge Design Competition Committee. The work is designed by an interdisciplinary student team from College of Design& Innovation and College of Civil Engineering, Tongji University.

The students' work won the top prize due to their design concept, structural innovation and final presentation, according to the committee.

The College of Design and Innovation is working together with the College of Civil Engineering on an inter-disciplinary design course . Students from the two colleges collaborated to design a pedestrian bridge.  The work "Inter-Woods" winning the first prize is one of the students course works.

Tongji University has won the first prize in the World University Bridge Design Competition for two years, in 2018 and 2019.
