Every fall semester since 2009, Kolding School of Design sends approximately 30 students, both BA and MA, to Tongji University College of Design and Innovation for a joint design workshop. The 2018 workshop celebrates the 10th year of the cooperation. Students from Tongji and Kolding work on finding solutions for a daily challenge through field research, analysis, design and modeling during the 6-8 weeks of joint workshop. The theme of 2019 is “HACK IKEA”, and the workshop is joined by teachers and students from Tongji D&I, Kolding School of Design, Denmark, and College of Design Shenzhen University.

The workshop this year is guided by UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and discusses the influence of Service Design to the world. The catalyst for this discussion is the IKEA business and industries along the value chain.
