On February 13, witnessed by Professor ZHONG Zhihua, who is an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the President of Tongji University, Dean of D&I LOU Yongqi and Director of MIT Media Lab Joi ITO signed a cooperation agreement in Media Lab. Shanghai International College of Design and Innovation,Tongji University will establish City Science Lab@Shanghai together with MIT Media Lab.

The cooperation between Tongji D&I and Media Lab goes back to years ago, in many areas such as Fablab and digital innovation design.

The establishment of this joint lab is a key measure of Tongji University in Category IV Peak Discipline Construction. The lab will endeavour to push forward the cooperation between Tongji University and MIT in teaching and research. Based on the needs of Shanghai ,the lab will also carry out research on Design, technology, policy, and service, and facilitate the transformation of innovation. Bearing in mind“Design Thinking”, the joint lab will focus on future sustainable lifestyle and industry transformation.
