The environmental design project with the theme of “Innovative Space Solution: Design and Building of Wastes” was closed recently. The freshmen had to explore the possibility of new applications of the wastes, such as paper packages, plastic lunch box, and broken badminton racket and so on, in five weeks, and presented the outcome in the form of a SHELTER. The focus was put on the structure, visual expression, and its relation with the surroundings and context. It is hoped that SHELTER could be presented to the public in a way unexpected yet very natural. It is also hoped that the students’ design could protect and make good use of the limited resources and contributed to the environmental protection, so that these abandoned items could be re-used in a sustainable and orderly way.
