Tongji Students Win the Crown in the 2018 China-Us Young Maker Competition

The awarding ceremony of the 2018 “Co-Making the future, China-US Young Maker Competition” was held in the China Millennium in Beijing on August 17. First-year undergraduate students Xinyi Wang and Siheng Feng from the College of Design and Innovation of Tongji University won the only first prize in this competition.

This yeartheYoung Maker Competition attracted more than 6,400 young participantsin nearly 2,000 projects. Followingthe open audition for qualification for sub-contest areas and semi-finalist only 400 young makers in 75 Maker teams remained. The four projects from Tongji University, “Chirp- companion robot for children learning piano,” ”Magic Cube-interactive music teaching tool,” “Interactive garment for rehabilitation” and “Role-playing robot” succeeded in the Shanghai venues and from there joined the other finalists. Finally, the Shanghai venue prevailed as the most successful witha first, a secondand a third prize going to Tongji University and a third prize going toShanghai Jiaotong University.
