The Next Mobility Lab of D&I was Launched

The Next Mobility Lab at the College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, was officially launched on March 19th, 2018. The lab’s research direction focuses on two core topics: sustainable urban mobility (system) and future mobility tools (products).

The Design and research fields covered bythe Next Mobility Lab are: walking,riding,driving,public transportation and transferring. Working and innovating with the design and engineering disciplines across Tongji University, and also with global partners, the lab’smission is to innovate for better experiences and also sustainable development for the future mobility industry.


The lab’s opening week included special guests who delivered insightful presentations and research workshops. These guests included, Simon Loasby (Head of Design China for Hyundai Motors Ltd.), Antonio Islas (Head of Transportation Design, College of DAAP, University of Cincinnati) and Dr. Nicolas Maranzana (Assistant Professor, Product Design and Innovation Lab, Arts et Métiers ParisTech).The establishment of the laboratory will expand the depth and breadth of our research in future mobility and transportation design field.
